In the French tradition, white clowning had its own strict rules. The White Clown could walk, stand, and move only in a specific way; every gesture, every position of the arms, legs, and body had its own meaning, according to Madonna Bouglione, a direct descendant of the traditional school. The video shows daily training before going on stage, repeating classic positions, steps, and reactions. The speed in the video is not sped up, as it might seem. Classical techniques were adapted by Stanislav...he created his own unique image of the White Clown, and preserved a fading tradition.
